Dear Kambrians,

With the aim of facilitating technology-related learning more accessible to a wider range of people and encouraging communities to study together, we are excited to introduce the community to a new DAO called Community-based Tech Learning DAO, a solution that supports Learn, Create, and Innovate Together For Tomorrow.

In this article, we would like to introduce an overview about this DAO. If this resonates with you, join us to be a part of this social impact.

Co-owning technology via Kambria DAOs

A DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) is a community using blockchain to facilitate decentralized autonomy. The control is spread out among all community members who use governance tokens to vote on DAO’s rules or changes, voting power is equivalent to the number of tokens they possess. By this, we can empower the community with trust, transparency and automation, and enable open-source solutions to be commercialized by their community.

Each Kambria DAO is started by a Dev Team submitting their proposal with a solution of technology they can develop and open for the community to co-own.Communities collectively buy into the solution by participating in the DAO. Then the Dev Team starts to develop the solution and the development progress will be managed monthly. The DAO as owners of the solution will decide and contribute to the commercialization of the solution, as well as get paid from their contribution.

Please check this page for a more detailed model and FAQs of Kambria DAOs.

Why Community-based Tech Learning?

Our drive to launch the Community-based Tech Learning DAO springs from a deep-seated commitment to leverage technology for communal and educational advancement. Here's why we believe this initiative is crucial:

1. Skill Development and Employability:

  • Democratize Tech Education: Our initiative aims to make STEM and robotics learning resources widely accessible. We're dedicated to breaking down barriers in tech education, allowing individuals from varied backgrounds to develop essential technological skills. The significance of STEM education is echoed by its substantial growth, with employment in STEM occupations increasing by 79% over the past three decades and projected to grow an additional 11% from 2020 to 2030. This emphasizes the critical need for accessible STEM education to prepare a vast, talented workforce for STEM-related fields.
  • Empower Individuals and Communities: We focus on providing tech skills and knowledge to individuals, enabling them to make significant contributions to their communities and society. This empowerment fosters social and economic advancement. However, challenges remain, as the U.S. faces a shortage of skilled individuals in STEM competencies, necessitating the growth of the STEM workforce as both the public and private sectors digitize their operations.
  • Cultivate Future Leaders: Our goal is to prepare the forthcoming generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators. By ensuring they are technologically proficient, we equip them to confidently address future challenges with their expertise. The need for a comprehensive strategy to improve STEM education and worker training is crucial for preserving America’s innovation edge and addressing the current lack of talent in key science and technology fields.

2. New ways of approach:

  • Build a Supportive Learning Community: The establishment of a DAO enhances a supportive network, enabling learners and educators to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and provide support. This enriches the learning experience, creating a sense of community and belonging.
  • Lifelong Learning and Adaptability: The World Economic Forum emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning as a critical skill in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Community-based tech learning fosters a culture of continuous learning, helping individuals adapt to rapidly evolving technological landscapes.
  • Open Source and Collaboration: Utilizing open-source resources, this initiative promotes a culture of continual learning and adaptation. It encourages people to collaborate, work on technology initiatives, and share skills. By leveraging open-source resources, communities accelerate the development of new technologies, benefiting society as a whole.
  • Digital Inclusion: According to the Good Things Foundation, approximately 2.9 billion people worldwide are digitally excluded, and a lack of digital skills and access can have significant consequences for their life. So our focus extends to ensuring digital accessibility for all, particularly for underserved communities. By providing the necessary tools and resources, we aim to bridge the digital divide, enabling everyone to benefit from technological advancements.
  • Foster Innovation and Creativity: We envision our platform as a hub for innovation, urging community members to engage in learning, creating, and innovating collectively. This promotes a culture of creativity, potentially leading to revolutionary solutions for future problems.

3. From Local Economic Development to Social Impact and Civic Engagement

In essence, the Community-based Tech Learning DAO is more than just a learning platform; it's a movement towards creating a more inclusive, innovative, and technologically empowered society.

Community-based Tech Learning DAO Solution

Suggested features

Envision this as the future of education, with a greater focus on community-based learning. This DAO technology solution will develop a comprehensive STEM toolkit and robotics learning package specifically designed for adults.

We foster a vibrant community of learners who are actively engaged in hands-on projects, supervised by devoted educators who provide valuable mentorship.

From the perspective of business, the potential market would be to sell kits and subscriptions to educational resources to learners, while also earning educators through consulting sessions.

The Community-based Tech Learning DAO (CTLD)

Our approach to build the DAO would be 3 main phases, which is to partner with the Dev Teams experienced in R&D this solution, as well as the Service Partners experienced in STEM and robotics educators:

Phase 1: Develop STEM and robotics kits for adults

Phase 2: Commercialize the solution with DAO members in each country, forming partnerships to manufacture and sell products locally, and implementing mentorship services.

Phase 3: Create community movement with CTLD Gamification, such as:

  • Reward DAO members with LP tokens for running donation campaigns to underserved schools
  • Reward Future Creators with DAO LP tokens for their creative projects using the kits, and for sharing their learning and making experiences with the community.

Partnership invitations

To Dev Teams

If you are experienced in R&D technology solutions for STEM kits and robotics learning kits designed for adults or similar solutions, and interested in collaborating with CTLD as Dev Team Partner to develop the solution, please submit your proposal by the timeline here to demonstrate how you should be selected to develop this solution.

The proposal should show:

  • Team profiles and relevant experiences
  • Introduction of your solution such as ideation, market research, prototypes and demos…
  • Development plan until the solution is ready for commercialization in the 1st product cycle. Note that the development progress will be managed monthly as per Kambria DAOs model
  • Quotation

From our fundraising experiences, we updated our qualification criteria to align with expectations of potential investors, including:

  • The teams already have prototype/MVP to prove feasibility of your solution concept
  • Your development plan is within 9 months to a complete solution, then the DAO community will join hands to bring it to market
  • Your quotation (1st product cycle) is up to $150.000, including prototype/MVP development work.

Please note that this partnership has the potential for long-term collaboration spanning multiple product cycles, contingent upon the success of each cycle.
