Creating business opportunities for the robotics and AI industry has been Kambria’s mission since the dawn of its inception. High start-up costs, isolated development teams, and a lack of collaboration have impeded the growth of robotics development and hindered new businesses from getting off the ground. To Kambria, the solution is clear: create a way to incentivize collaboration to effectively accelerate the evolution of robotics technologies and allow entrepreneurs to pursue their vision.

In this series, we will be discussing how Kambria plans to ultimately create new business opportunities by transforming the robotics and AI development industry into a more collaborative environment. Kambria has identified the current major obstacles with the robotics and AI industry’s innovation process:

· Innovation requires deep expertise in many fields

· Collaboration is lacking in projects

· Development is dependent on manufacturing (centralized)

· Many projects are siloed in big corporations

· Nearly 85% of effort is wasted on duplicated technologies or ideas

· High start-up costs for companies

· Hiring the right talent is a major bottleneck for businesses trying to grow

Kambria has value-filled solutions for all these detrimental obstacles. Decentralization, utilization of blockchain technology, and an open-source movement are all contributors to Kambria’s solutions.

Our Solution

The mission of the Kambria platform is to accelerate the innovation process. With our platform, key players in the robotics and AI ecosystem will experience faster, cheaper, and easier robotics development.

Developers on the Kambria platform will be given opportunities to access technologies, resources, and accumulated research that other members of the Kambria community license out for usage. This process is safe and is handled entirely by the blockchain’s secure smart contracts. This means that developers will no longer need to start a robotics project from scratch. Businesses will no longer have to employ a team of experienced researchers. Being able to innovate faster will enable companies to create more advanced technologies and effectively push the industry forward.

Kambria will also have very low-entry costs, enabling smaller or independent developers to join the community. Since Kambria’s licensing fees will be handled with pre-created smart contracts, there will be no need for a third party to handle paperwork for security. With no middlemen as a barrier, businesses will be able to reach out to developers and manufacturers directly, leading to improved workflow. Furthermore, payments are paid via smart contract automatically, effectively reducing overhead costs.

The business opportunities that Kambria creates for the AI and robotics industry will also directly create solutions for multiple other industries:

· Healthcare

· Education

· Transportation

· Social impact

Kambria looks forward to sparking a domino effect of technological innovations across these industries. We are dedicated to creating an cooperative environment that can extend to many different verticals.

Innovation Marketplace & K-prize Challenges

The innovation marketplace is built within the very foundation of Kambria’s open innovation model. (KAT) tokens will be used as both a reward for contributions to the platform, and a signaling mechanism. Signaling and creation of enticing bounties are strategies that Kambria employs to aggressively drive innovations in the ecosystem.

Companies that need additional resources or technologies to assist their developments in robotics will be empowered to set up high-stakes bounties for Kambria community members to complete. For example, if a company needs a sensor to complete their fabrication of a robot, they can establish a $50k USD bounty that will describe the project terms, such as:

· The work to be done

· The judging criteria

· Expert judges from the community

· Tranches or timing

· Payout schedules

The bounty will be rewarded to any individual or team that completes the relevant terms and fabrication of the sensor. Terms are secured and encoded within smart contracts, with links to additional bounty data that is off-chain. Bounties will range from $100 USD to over $1M USD. Multiple companies will have the option to join-in on existing bounties by staking their own KAT tokens to increase the prize pool. This will effectively direct the development of innovations and solutions that are based upon the signaled needs of the Kambria community.

K-prizes give additional visibility for top work. We have seen the DARPA challenges in demonstrating the power of public robotics competitions to capture the public’s interest and imagination and accelerate innovation. That’s why we modeled K-prizes after them. These prizes will push forward the development of capabilities that unleash new value and application for robotics platforms.

Manufacturing Alliance

The Manufacturing Alliance will be a collaborative partnership where top companies will be able to share knowledge, resources, and research. Kambria’s goal for the Manufacturing Alliance is to create a network of manufacturing centers around the world. Members of the alliance will be committed to fabricate robots quickly and helping companies meet their production goals.

Members of the alliance will experience a considerable advantage over traditional competitors, the alliance will effectively reduce the need for:

· Supply chains

· Sourcing

· Paperwork Handling

· Stocking

The Manufacturing Alliance is built around the principles of collaboration and partnerships to allow companies to grow from ideation to production. Kambria platform users will also benefit from significant time savings, as any KDNA designs conforming to Kambria manufacturing standards can be fabricated in as little as a few days.

The Kambria platform that will incentivize collaboration between businesses, manufacturers, developers and scientists in the robotics and AI industry. Users will be rewarded when they cooperate with each other, creating an incentive for working together and completing projects. This will eliminate the overhead costs to business owners by not having to spend time hiring, onboarding, and training employees. Rather they’ll be able to reach out to the vast network of talent already existing on the Kambria ecosystem as everyone will be incentivized to participate.

Kambria will stimulate impactful solutions to complex problems across multiple verticals. By incentivizing collaboration, Kambria will breed and accelerate technological evolution.
