As we round out January, Kambria is moving steadily towards achieving its goals of growing our reach and developer community worldwide. Plans for Kambria China are in full swing after we were selected as one of the “Canal Elite” talent programs by the Hangzhou government to help accelerate technology development in the region.
Since our last update, Kambria CEO, Dr. Thuc Vu, visited the Hangzhou International Talents Entrepreneurship and Innovation Park (HITEIP) where Kambria will work to build a developer community and expand Open-Innovation-as-a-Service.
To help our community learn more about Hangzhou and its position as an innovative city, we published an article highlighting some of the initiatives there such as:
- Alibaba's 300,000 square meter compound, a testament to the direction in which the city is heading
- Hangzhou's ambitious plan to become China’s foremost city in terms of the digital economy
- Hangzhou's strong economic growth which attracts thousands of foreign professionals and enterprises
- Kambria's mission to introduced Open-Innovation-As-A-Service and our commitment to help local companies in Hangzhou innovate together
We are very excited about the potential of Kambria China and our partnership with Hangzhou International Talent Entrepreneur & Innovation Park (HITEIP). We will work closely with other Canal Elite programs to foster further innovation in the region and to accelerate artificial intelligence and robotics technology via the Kambria platform.
Kambria Global Innovation Fund Update — Lehigh University
One year ago, we announced a partnership with Lehigh University students to support academic research in intelligent machines. Over the course of the year, Lehigh students integrated a number of new artificial intelligence-based technologies into the Ohmni Developer Edition robotics platform.
By adding off-the-shelf sensors, open deep learning modules and cloud-based NLP onto Ohmni Developer Edition, Lehigh students were able to deploy an AI-enabled robot and explore many real-world applications at low cost. Learn about:
- The Navigation Subsystem that enables the robot to navigate and handle a complex indoor environment
- The Vision Module that enables Ohmni to recognize up to 200 faces and be able to extract emotion features
- The Voice Module which can start interactive conversations based on the user’s reactions
- Potential Use Cases for an AI-enabled Robot including robotics for healthcare, real estate and retail
