Dear Kambria Community,
I’m reaching out today from Kambria’s Silicon Valley office to address the current state of our project. As the KAT price indicates, we have had a rough few months. For various reasons, including market sentiment and an unexpected divestment by one of our biggest backers, we have experienced a significant decline in the current value of KAT. And while we received validation for our project this year in several key areas, we have not yet established a strong token economy.
That said, our team is working very hard to make improvements in 2020. Our first step is to create an actionable 2020 road map that builds upon successful projects from 2019 in order to increase the utility and usage of KAT within the AI community.
Below is a summary of our plan going forward. You can view the full road map by clicking here. My hope is to renew your trust in Kambria and to convince you that we are on the right track in our mission to accelerate AI and robotics development around the world.
Reduced Token Supply
As previously announced, we have chosen to disable 1.2 billion KAT from our total supply. Decreasing the supply will result in a more balanced distribution between circulating supply and tokens under team management. The first phase of token disablement will begin shortly on December 15, 2019.
Continue to Build a Strong Developer Community
Through various initiatives this year, we received important validation of what we are trying to build. One notable area was our desire to build a strong developer community. We created strong interest in Kambria among developers and corporations through the Vietnam AI Grand Challenge (VAGC) hackathons series.
In 2020, we will continue to build a strong developer community by recruiting VAGC participants and others to Learn, Practice, Prove, and Get Rewarded through Kambria. We will support them through the Learn phase with Kambria eduKATion, online educational programs created in partnership with AI experts at VietAI, with whom we already have a strong relationship. We will encourage them to Practice and Prove their knowledge through online quizzes and mini-hackathon. And they will Get Rewarded in KAT for their quality engagement in bounty challenges. Kambria will also actively connect proven developers with projects or corporations interested in hiring new talent.
Engage Token Holders in Computer Vision Project
Our second major initiative will be to get the token holder community more involved and to reward them with KAT. By the end of 2019, we will launch a major data collection project focused on computer vision to develop a semantic perception engine. When attached to a robot, this engine will be capable of recognizing tens of thousands of object classes in the real world, in real-time, and in a structured form. For the Kambria community, this project will increase the utility of KAT and will be very valuable to researchers and corporations who may choose to license the data set.
Develop Open Innovation Hubs with Corporate Partners
Finally, Kambria is in discussion with large corporations in Vietnam to design Open Innovation Hubs. We will share more details about this initiative soon.
